Event Branding for Warwick SU Welcome Week at the Sports Hub

Warwick Students’ Union (SU) wanted to have maximum visibility and engagement from all students during their Welcome Week event. Throughout the week, there were many other activities happening on campus so competition for the students’ attention was at a peak and the branding of the Sports Hub space was a key focal point.

The SU event was a significant initiative to introduce new students to campus societies and university facilities. The SU wanted to create a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for students, encouraging them to explore what was available. The Sports Hub was a great location for the event because of the large spaces as well as the wide variety of branding opportunities available at the location.

The primary objectives were:

– To enhance the SU’s visibility and create a cohesive and engaging experience for attendees.
– To ensure clear navigation between key locations, with a focus on guiding attendees from the SU Hub to the Sports Hub.
– To create an immersive and visually appealing environment that welcomed new students and set the tone for the event.
– To ensure the branding remained impactful for the duration of the three-day event and was efficiently removed afterward.

Graphic Signs was tasked with delivering a comprehensive and effective branding solution. The approach involved a combination of large-format print, directional signage, and creative visual elements that covered both the interior and exterior of the Sports Hub.

EXTERNAL BRANDING AND WAYFINDING

– External Floor Stickers and Lamppost Wraps guided students along the pathway from SU Hub to Sports Hub. These ensured a clear, branded path, helping students easily navigate to the event.

– A large, Welcome Arch Fabric Banner was erected along the path as you approached the entrance to the Sports Hub, providing a clear welcome to attendees and reinforcing the event’s theme.

– Freestanding Flags and Telescopic Flags were strategically placed around the Sports Hub’s external spaces to attract attention and direct participants to the main event area. These flags featured the event branding and added an additional layer of visibility.

– External Welcome Pavement Graphics were placed on the pavement. The large, eye-catching graphics invited attendees to explore the area and enhancing the event’s festive atmosphere.

BUILDING BRANDING

– Window Graphics and Contra-Vision Graphics covered the entire north-facing side of the Sports Hub to transform the venue. Contra-vision graphics were applied to the glass panels of the building, creating a stunning mural effect that showcased the SU event branding.

INTERIOR BRANDING AND WAYFINDING

– Floor Graphics were used inside the Sports Hub to enhance the immersive experience. These directional graphics helped attendees navigate to key areas of the venue, reinforcing the event’s branding and helping guide the flow of traffic.

– Directional Signage with event messaging and key points were used along the walls to assist in navigating the internal spaces. The Foamex boards acted as directional signage, offering a clear, visible wayfinding solution that helped attendees find their way to different societies and activities within the Sports Hub.

– Foamex Cover Panels added further branding to the interior spaces with large-format print brightly displaying the social tags for the event and key word phrases. These panels were placed throughout the venue, ensuring high visibility.

– Fabric Barriers added another layer of branding and wayfinding for attendees. These barriers helped to break up spaces in the event while adding to the overall look and feel without being imposing on attendees.

AFTER THE EVENT

The SU event was spread over three days, with removal of the materials scheduled for the two days following the event. Graphic Signs had to implement careful planning of the removal of all of the signage and branding materials to ensured minimal disruption and a smooth transition back to normal operation for the venue.

RESULTS AND IMPACT

The large-format prints, flags, and floor graphics contributed to a visually cohesive environment, making the SU event focal point during the Welcome Week events. Bringing it all together enhanced the visibility of the SU and their offer.

The pathway and directional signage ensured smooth attendee flow and easy access to the different areas of the event. This was a key element which supported the experience for all of the new students attending. The branding not only made the space visually appealing but also helped students feel welcomed and engaged, contributing to a positive start to their university experience.

The project was executed seamlessly, with all installations completed on schedule and removal carried out efficiently within the allotted time frame.

This event branding successfully transformed the Sports Hub into a vibrant, welcoming space for new students during the Warwick SU Welcome Week events. The combination of external and internal branding, wayfinding elements, and large-format prints ensured that the venue was both visually striking and functional. The event’s success was due in large part to the strategic application of branding elements, which enhanced the overall atmosphere and experience for attendees while ensuring clear navigation and accessibility.
