The Project
King Edward VI School in Stratford-upon-Avon is a state-funded Academy Trust selective school for boys with a co-educational Sixth Form. The school, known to have been in existence from 1295 and re-founded by a Charter of King Edward VI, has a reputation for high academic standards and an outstanding co-curricular programme. The poet and playwright William Shakespeare attended the school in the 1570s, leading to the school being widely known as Shakespeare’s School.
The Brief
Having worked with the school since 2014, we have a strong understanding of the aims of the school; to celebrate the long and distinguished history whilst providing an enriching environment that provides the opportunities for students to develop new skills and interests.
The school looked to Graphic Arts Group to achieve their vision; that students should feel motivated, welcomed, and inspired by their physical environment.
Through a prolonged period of consultation, we have established a fantastic working relationship with the school bursar, who supplied us with inspiring images of past and present students, that we used in the eye-catching displays throughout the school.
The Solution
Scattered throughout the grounds, both externally and internally, you are confronted with a collection of rousing images of former students partaking in a variety of intellectual and athletic pursuits. This prominent show of pride perfectly embodies the school values and commitment to delivering a rich and vibrant community.
An external image display situated in the school yard impeccably sums up the school’s blend of historical reverence and modern appreciation. A collection of high-quality printed images adorning the external walls create an inspiring, immersive outdoor courtyard where you cannot help but be inspired by the achievements of the students who have assembled in the same spot throughout the years. The images show past and present students at the school partaking in dramatic scenes from Shakespeare plays, a fitting nod to the celebrated history of the school alumni.
Fitted with chrome stand fittings for a stylish and durable finish, our aluminium composite display panels were the ideal solution for displaying the vivid full colour printed images throughout the school.
Lightweight, strong, and weather resistant, our aluminium display panels are situated throughout the school grounds. Externally they provide striking, long-lasting imagery to catch the eye in any weather, internally they ensure a durable signage solution that can withstand excessive touching and impact within high footfall areas. This was especially important in the school sports hall, which is regularly bombarded with balls, yet still looks as good as the day it was installed!

A prominent nod to another member of the talented alumni is a touching display at one the entranceways to Richard Spender. Studying at King Edward VI School from 1930 to 1940, Richard went on to become a much-revered World War 2 poet who wrote a selection of emotive poems on his experiences on the front line, and tragically gave his life in 1943 whilst serving in Sedjenane, Northern Tunisia. A high-quality black and white printed photograph of Richard adorns the wall outside one of the main entranceways, a fitting tribute to one the school’s most treasured former students.
One of the most inspiring images within the school is the full wallpaper image depicting the magnificent aerial view of the school and its position in the local community. Printed in high definition and installed by our specialist trained fitters, digital wallpaper is the perfect way to transform any wall into a memorable and eye-catching centrepiece of a room.
The Result
With over 50 high quality printed images fitted throughout the school, alongside complementary door signage and full colour wall graphics, the environment has been transformed to provide a selection of products that respect the school’s rich history whilst inspiring the next generation of students who have the honour of being a part of this outstanding learning environment.
